Ringbrothers Reinvents the Classic Aston Martin DBS as Octavia

Ringbrothers Takes On A British Classic

Ringbrothers has earned a reputation as one of the most meticulous custom car builders in the world. From reimagined muscle icons like the Plymouth Barracuda to outrageous restomods such as its Dodge Charger "Tusk," the Wisconsin-based shop has shown an ability to balance power with craftsmanship. Every project is a bespoke creation, usually involving thousands of hours of work, and each one carries the Ringbrothers hallmark of blending artistry with performance.

At this year's Monterey Car Week, the company unveiled its most ambitious project yet: the Octavia. Based on a 1971 Aston Martin DBS – not the modern DBS Superleggera – it is the builder's first foray into the British marque and also its debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.

Supercharged Beauty That Took a Lot of Work

The Octavia began with a donor DBS and over 12,000 hours of engineering, fabrication, and design. The car retains the original silhouette penned by William Towns but reimagines it with far more presence. The body is crafted entirely from carbon fiber, widened by eight inches at the front and ten inches at the rear. The front wheels were shifted forward three inches, riding on a custom Roadster Shop FAST TRACK chassis for improved proportions and rigidity. Finished in BASF Glasurit's Double-0 Silver with Nuclear Olive Green accents, the car balances subtlety with bold detailing.

Beneath the carbon bonnet is a Ford Performance 5.0-liter Coyote V8 topped with a 2.65-liter Harrop supercharger, producing 805 horsepower in street tune. Power is sent through a six-speed manual gearbox. A set of Fox RS SV coilovers, custom Brembo brakes, and one-off HRE centerlock wheels complete the chassis package.

Inside, Octavia mixes leather, carbon fiber, and 3D-printed stainless steel elements with a design theme that nods to MI6 flair. Playful details include valve covers engraved to read "Aston Martini" and a dipstick handle shaped like a martini glass. The cabin also features Gentex auto-dimming visors, used for the first time in a road car.

A Priceless, One-Off Project

As with other Ringbrothers commissions, Octavia is a one-off project, created for a client who wanted an Aston Martin transformed into something unique. Pricing has not been disclosed, though the sheer number of bespoke components, man-hours, and engineering innovation suggest a figure well into the seven-figure range.

Ringbrothers has documented parts of the build in a YouTube series, offering a glimpse into the process behind the finished product. It may not be for sale, but now we know what the American tuner can do when it gets its hands on British classics.
